Dublin Street Style

For those of you who don't know, I'm studying fashion in college and as part of my work experience I have to come up with a college fashion magazine. One article in it is street style so, the other day I took to the street of Dublin to take my pictures. Two birds, one stone and all that I decided to make a post out of it. These are my result!

Get The Look | Carrie Bradshaw

Before you say it, yes I know, Carrie Bradshaw is a fictional character who doesn't actually exist but to me any girl that can pull off a tulle skirt and ghetto hoops deserves recognition.

Carrie's style is the epitome of the late the 90's and early 00's. It's impossible to sum up her look in just one word. She went from ghetto to girly in a moment and each outfit had it's own authentic quality. She manages to look effortless yet put together and because of that she is my ultimate style icon.

I put together two different Carrie-esque looks that I feel is a little more wearable yet still staying true to style. I am aware that not all of us are lucky enough to have the body of SJP and the perseverance to wear heels on a daily basis, but you can easily tailor the look to what suits you.

Carrie Bradshaw

Does anyone else really wish she married Aiden instead of Big in the end? no.. just me? cool.

The Outfit | Thirteen

Shirt: Vintage
Shorts: River Island
Cardigan: c/o my momma
Boots: Pennys (Primark)

I have a slight thing for vintage mens shirts, this used to have long sleeves, to make it more wearable I cut it up into a crop top and chopped off the sleeves.. I think it's too cute!

Give my blog some lovin'!

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentines day filled with romantical adventures. I'm feeling fairly fragile today. Less romance, more alcohol for me.

The best in dark lips.

As much as I love a nude lip, I also love a dark one. When i'm not too arsed fussing about my eyes making them look fancy I tend to just throw on some mascara and my favourite dark lip and i'm good to go.
So, I've rounded up my 3 favourite red and berry colours to share with you all.

Barry m's 121 is a gorgeous bright red colour. It is the most matte of the three so if you prefer glossier lips then steer away from this. However I love the matte effect. The colour is reasonably long lasting but I wouldn't leave the house without it for top ups.
I would give this a 8/10.

Collection's 'gothic glam' is a dark purple colour. Not to everyone's taste but I love the idea of my lips being as dark as my soul so I wear it whenever I have the chance. The colour is slightly matte and I would recommend buying a lip liner in the same colour to ensure everything stays in place.
I would give this a 6/10.

And finally, Rimmel's 'diva red' is the perfect deep red shade. The glossiest colour of the three, it can tend to find it's way onto my teeth so you might need to keep an eye out for any mishaps. The colour is perfect for both pale and darker skin tones. It is very long lasting and keeps my lips moisturized throughout my time wearing it.
I would give this a 7/10.

What's your favourite dark lip colour?

The Outfit | Twelve

Jumper: Vintage
Trousers: Forever21
Boots: Missguided

I'm channeling my inner 90's toddler in this outfit. My mam recently found this jumper stashed in the back of her wardrobe and I was more than happy to claim it as my own. My jumper obsession is getting out of control. Pairing it with these printed trousers, I look like I just stepped straight out of 1996. Pass me my Furbie.

Here's vintage Adele in a similar outfit about 18 years ago.

Conceal, don't feel.

One thing in my make up bag I can't live without is definitely a good concealer. Since starting to wear make up when I was 12 I've been through my fair share of crappy concealers, and so, I thought I would share a few of the best concealers I've come across in the past few years.

 Mac's Pro Longwear

I'm a firm believer in that paying more doesn't always necessarily mean better quality, and this concealer confirms that. Yes, it does the job, it is a little too dark for my complexion but in general it does a fair job of hiding my dark circles and it stays put for most of the day. However, for the price I paid for it I would expect unicorns to appear and banish my circles with fairy dust, this unfortunately doesn't happy. I would recommend this for people with sallow, oily skin, as it's a little drying.

 Collection's Lasting Perfection

This, without a doubt is the best and most reliable concealer I've come across in my 7 years of wearing make up. The cheapest of the three, I see it regularly hyped about in the beauty world and deservedly so. The shade is perfect for my skin tone, it makes my dark circles and blemishes disappear completely while highlighting the areas I want. The only slight bad thing I have to say about it is that it doesn't have the long lasting effect of other concealers, it's always best to carry it with you for touch ups.

Benefit's Erase Paste

This concealer is great for putting on as a base under foundation, but, on it's own, not so great. I find it a little dark and oily on my skin, it creases quite a lot so the less you use the better. But, as I say, if you're looking for something to put under your foundation and bb cream this works a treat.

Yes the title is a Frozen quote, no h8.

January in pictures

I have decided that since I now have the wonder that is Instagram I would make a post every month rounding up my favourite instapics from the month.

So.. in the month that saw the long awaited return of Cadbury creme eggs I finally visited the Titanic museum in Belfast, learned how to work a sewing machine and eh did a few other things. With today being the first official day of Spring I will be a little sad to see leaves growing on the trees again (they're so much prettier with none) I will however be very happy to (hopefully) say goodbye to the cold weather and start to live life only wearing 2 cardigans instead of 3. Even in summer it's still freezing in Ireland.

Follow for more of this kind of shizzle.

Until next month!
